Hold on a second, there was a single person alive who saw pics of Zendaya on the Oscars red carpet and didn't think she looked the picture of perfection? Excuse us, but we find that a little hard to believe. We still can't stop gushing over how amazing the actress looked with her daring dreadlocked hairstyle, but apparently not everyone agreed.
After Giuliana Rancic said she didn't like Zendaya's hair choice on Fashion Police, Zendaya took to Instagram to express her hurt and defend her style.
"There is a fine line between what is funny and what is disrespectful," she wrote, eloquently not naming names. "Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, because I was hit with ignorant slurs and and pure disrespect."
"There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of her hair," she continued. "My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscars red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough. To me, locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion's mane."
After reading Zendaya's powerful words, Giuliana took to Twitter to apologize.
Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!— Giuliana Rancic (@GiulianaRancic) February 24, 2015
