Major congratulations are in order for Yara Shahidi: the 17-year-old actress just celebrated her high school graduation! That's right: the star is finishing up her high school studies this year, but the cast of her TV show Black-ish decided to commemorate this big milestone a little early and throw her a surprise party while they were still on set filming together. There wasn't a dry eye in the room when the team dressed Yara up in a cap and gown and spread their best wishes.
"I'll be graduating before we come back to shoot season 4 (I'm just speaking that into existence) so my fam+ blackish fam put together a beautiful pre-graduation graduation ✨," Yara posted on Instagram along with an emotional video captured during the celebration.
"I'm not a crier but needless to say tears of joy were streaming," she added. "To know that everybody on that set is invested in my well-being and future is surreal. They have watched me grow and helped me thrive. Thank you to everyone who orchestrated and celebrated this huge milestone in my life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤."
This is such a sweet moment, and honestly, we're here crying right along with Yara and everyone. It's such a big milestone for anyone to graduate high school, but it's especially impressive that Yara has accomplished so much while working full time on this series.
Plus, how awesome would it be to have celebs like the Black-ish star crash your own grad party?! Iconic.
Are you proud of Yara for this big accomplishment? Make sure to let her know by wishing her well on social media!
