Given the fact that Isabela Moner has always been a long-haired girl for as long as she's been in fans' lives, people were totally shocked when the Nickelodeon gal ditched her ultra long mane and traded it in for a pixie cut. The big hair switch-up wasn't just a beauty-based one though. Turns out, it was for an upcoming movie role.
Isabela first announced the news on Instagram last month when she debuted her first short-haired photo.
"Had to chop off my long locks for the the follow up film of Sicario, "Soldado"! So excited for this new project and glad I got to donate my hair to Wigs for Kids," she captioned the picture.
Now, Isabela is sharing her experience with us even further. In a video she just released, Isabela explained why she decided to donate her hair to this organization – opening up about wanting to help those suffering from pediatric cancer, which often leads to hair loss from chemotherapy.
"I never pictured myself being able to help people with such big problems such as, you know, sickness and other things. Like I try to. I want to – and usually I'm not able to. I don't have the cure to cancer. So this is a step into getting in the right direction to helping those people," Isabela explained in the video.
When donating hair to the organization, there is a certain way that it must be cut in order to be used. To make sure the hair doesn't slip and slide around while being sent, the hair must first be sectioned off and bundled up into tight ponytails before any cutting is done.
Once all the rubber bands were in place and she got the scissors in place, Isabela sliced off the first piece all by herself.
"That's so much hair," Isabela said while analyzing the chunk she just snipped from her scalp. "That was on my head!"
After the hair was set aside to be donated, it was time for Isabela to get her hair styled and shaped to perfection.
"I'm really happy. I like it more than I thought I would," Isabela said once the cut was complete.
Wow, this new look seriously suits her beautifully.
