K.C. Undercover actress Veronica Dunne recently made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago, so TWIST obviously had to catch up with the triple threat star to get the inside scoop on the awesome experience. From hair to makeup to costumes, Veronica tells us all about what goes into getting glammed up each night for the show.
"William Ivey Long is the original costume designer of the show, and he just did such a brilliant job," Veronica spills. "Everyone’s in all black."
Veronica goes on to explain that it's usually really hard to find something that's both beautiful and comfy to dance around in.
"My costumes are really, really great. They make me feel so beautiful and comfortable, and they’re easy to move in – and yet really gorgeous," Veronica tells us.
At the beginning of the the show, Veronica starts off wearing a babydoll dress with bell sleeves that then turns into a tight sequin and lace dress with an open back. Veronica says one of her favorite costumes is in Act 2, when she rocks a long-sleeved mesh leotard with a romper and boots.
"You just feel like a million bucks in them," Veronica tell us.
As for Roxie's hair, Veronica says it's a timeless look that she's sure will still be the cutest thing 20 years from now.
"My wig is so, you know, perfectly 'Marilyn' in a way – with the red lips and the cat eye and everything. It’s so timeless and classic."
Although Veronica is used to getting her hair and makeup done for K.C. Undercover, she acts as her own makeup artist for Chicago. How impressive is that?!
"I actually do my own makeup for the show," Veronica spills. "Someone else does my curls and my wig. So it takes me about 30 to 45 minutes to do my makeup, and then the wig process takes maybe about 10 to 15."
So there you have it – Veronica can now add "makeup artist" to her super long resume. We are absolutely thrilled about Veronica's new role, and we cannot wait to see what amazing things she has in store for the future.
