Think that guys don't go through the same body pressures as girls do? Think again. Tons of guys go through body image issues and even eating disorders too, and Tyler Oakley is one of them.
It might seem like the web star talks about every single topic out there on his YouTube channel, but there are some personal struggles that he has a hard time opening up about in front of the camera – and his fight against his eating disorder is a subject he's barely mentioned over his vlogging years.
"Talking about it is really hard because it's something I suppress and work through every day. And I haven't really talked about body image in videos," he explained in a new interview. "With videos, meet and greets, and a million pictures a day, it's definitely a thing that I think about. It's not about clothes fitting. It's not about feeling chubbier than normal. I'd beat myself up over a day that I'm not active. If I'm lazy, then I feel grody."
"I assume when people read this, they'll be like, 'Oh, you're not fat.' That's not what it's about at all. Even when I was the skinniest I'd ever been, I was still not happy," he shared. We're proud of him for sharing a bit more of his story and clearing up misconceptions about eating disorders being only related to the way you physically look. It's inspiring that he's using his own experiences to help others.
