The award-winning new indie movie Little Miss Perfect has an incredible message. The film follows 14-year-old Belle, an overambitious straight-A freshman, who has just become class president. She seems to have it all together, but as her family troubles and daily social and academic pressures grow, she develops an eating disorder, and her life gets even more chaotic. The cast has compiled some stories and behind-the-scenes snaps from their journey together for our latest exclusive photo diary that will really give you a sense of what the story is all about.
"I hope audiences that watch the film realize that we all have an internal struggle and they are not alone," lead actress Karlee Roberts tells TWIST about her movie.
"Little Miss Perfect is so important for every young person to see. It displays how trying adolescence can be and the problems most young teenagers face every day. It lets kids see that as long as you have people who support you, you can overcome anything," supporting actress Izzy Palmieri adds.
Actress Lilla Crawford stresses that the movie's message really needs to get out there. "This film is extremely important, because it's about an issue that is not widely discussed out in mainstream media. It's kind of glossed over, and often trivialized and in some cases promoted," she tells us.
"Talking about it, and educating our audience will give the issue of eating disorders the attention it needs. It certainly has my attention. If anything, this movie was such a great learning experience for me. I had no knowledge of eating disorders until I worked on the film. I am hoping this eye opening movie will educate and create awareness for our audience as it did on me. I also love how the movie works for different age demographics, which always indicates great filmmaking."
