Selena Gomez has spoken about a serious health condition she has kept quiet for quite some time. In a new interview, she confirmed she has been diagnosed with lupus, "a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body," and how she underwent intense treatment to help with her illness during the time she canceled part of her Stars Dance tour and wasn't in the spotlight as much.
“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke," Selena said. “I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re [jerks].' I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
Although members of Sel's family had confirmed in the past that her break was because she was getting treatment, she is finally setting the record straight, on her own terms. We're glad to know she is keeping healthy and speaking about her condition the way she wants to.
