Sarah Jeffery is speaking out about her personal struggles with obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety, and depression in hopes of helping out the millions of others who are currently suffering in silence. The Descendants and Shades of Blue actress took to Twitter to share that no one should be ashamed of their mental illnesses or feel like they are completely alone in their struggle.
#BellLetsTalk because I'm not ashamed of my OCD, depression and anxiety. NO one should be ashamed. NO one should go it alone.— Sarah Jeffery (@sarahmjeffery3) January 25, 2017
Sarah followed up her message by tweeting out a thoughtfully written text memo that details the highs and lows she has experienced with her own mental health.
The star revealed that many times her disorders had taken over her while she was working, but in recovery she has realized that it has affected her work and career in a positive way as well – so she's looking at her journey with a different perspective.
"My OCD allows me to truly believe that ANYTHING is possible, and lets me see the world through an unfiltered lens," Sarah wrote. "My anxiety allows me to reach parts of my brain and my inner self that I didn't even know were there. And my depression allows me to be incredibly empathetic and caring, and to tap into all sorts of emotions for my career, my craft."
We're so inspired by Sarah's outlook about her health, and know that her sharing her own experiences will help others going through similar things themselves.
