When you see glam red carpet photos of Rowan Blanchard, or the impossibly chic looks she wore sitting front row at London Fashion Week, it's easy to forget that she's 13 years old. Her remarkable style sensibility and high-fashion outfits are on the same level as fashionistas double her age, but that doesn't mean the Girl Meets World actress is trying to make herself look older with her outfits.
"I think I'm looking for a balance of sophistication and a bit of youth," Rowan said in a new interview about her style reflects who she is. "It's really, really easy at this age to look like you're trying too hard, you know? Like you're trying to look older; you're trying to wear a tight dress with six-inch stilettos. [My stylist] and I have been really careful to make sure it's chic but it's still appropriate, and I always look my age."
We think it's great that Rowan is experimenting with new styles, and figuring out what she loves while making sure to still be age-appropriate.
"I think for me especially, I've always loved fashion. I started wearing H&M, and it slowly branched out into Christopher Kane and stuff like that," she explained. "It was very slow. It wasn't like, 'Hi, I'm Rowan. I'm 13 but I'm on TV now, so here I am in Prada! Ta-da!' My parents were very careful, too, because they didn't want me looking ridiculous in some Chanel thing."
Rowan shared that being a teen is all about mixing your styles. "There's a balance between finding a way to do it, and being youthful and having good energy. I don't want to shove fashion in your face," she said. "I mean, [I'll wear] Alexander Lewis, but [with a bag] from the H&M kids section. So I don't think it's inappropriate to be a kid wearing some high fashion pieces, but ... I've totally viewed certain people in Hollywood that way, like, 'that outfit looks ridiculous.' You have to be careful."
