Tonight, Peyton List's brand new Disney Channel Original Movie, The Swap, officially premieres on the network, and we're about to see a whole different side of her acting abilities. TWIST recently caught up with the actress and she shared that playing Ellie in this film has actually changed her in real life.
"I feel like people always see me so girly and feminine and so uptight and not ever really letting loose, but in this movie I completely let loose," Peyton tells us about playing a guy in this project. "It's even so different from myself, which kind of scared me a little bit."
Peyton shares that going out of her comfort zone for this role actually made her realize a lot about herself.
"I feel like I almost had a problem where I wanted to look good and look cute and this kind of helped me, actually," she shares. "It was very therapeutic, to sort of let go of it and not care about making an ugly face or whatever it is. I feel like it was actually a nice thing. I found that it helped me in life."
She explains that in acting like a guy, she lost some of the inhibitions that she's had.
"My posture has actually gotten worse! Ever since that movie, I've found myself slouching! I'm slouching during this interview!" she laughs about her post-movie realization. "But I think before, yeah, I was always so worried about looking so perfect, and it's like you don't have to all the time."
Peyton shares that she's actually gotten a lot of this from working to mimic her co-star Jacob Bertrand's mannerisms.
"And I had to study Jacob [because in the film we switch bodies]," she explains. "At first, we were both sort of playing it as stereotypical guy and stereotypical girl, and then it was like, oh. There is no typical girl or typical guy. We had to play each other."
