When we first heard about the new Disney Channel series, BUNK'D, we had two very different reactions. First, we were elated that some of our favorite Jessie characters would be staying on our TV screens even after that show ended. But we were also having a tough time trying to guess how Peyton List's character, Emma, would react to being at a summer camp in BUNK'D! Sure, we could totally see Zuri and Ravi finding their way and having a fun time, but we didn't know how Emma would react to not being in a big city full of shopping and glamour.
In a new interview, Peyton herself explained that it was a tough transition for her character to make.
"At first, Emma is not having it. She is disgusted by camp and everything about [it]. She's just revolted," she shared. "But after a while, after really she meets Zander, I think that's her turning point where she's like, 'Okay, I can stay at camp a while.' Because she has a crush on him. She starts to become friends with Lou, played by Miranda [May]."
"I think my character has become very humbled by camp and I think she's more relatable now to everyone," she continued. "She's dressing more casual and acting more casual and being more of a leader on the show, which I like. I actually really like Emma better on the show. I like playing her more now that she's more real. She's maturing. She doesn't have Jessie around and so she kind of has to be her own boss."
We always knew that Emma was capable of taking on bigger responsibilities and trusting in her own smarts, and we can't wait to see how it all plays out on the show.
