Major congratulations are in order for Olivia Holt: the actress is headed back to television for a brand new series on Freeform called Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.
Deadline reports that Olivia – whose previous TV roles include Disney Channel's I Didn't Do It and Kickin' It – and actor Aubrey Joseph have been cast as the lead roles of Cloak and Dagger for the new straight-to-series live-action drama based on the Marvel characters.
The show "follows the interracial romance between Tandy Bowen (Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Joseph), who come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul," according to the site. "Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging."
It looks like Olivia and Aubrey are already well on their way to embodying their roles perfectly, too.
"The characters of Tandy and Tyrone have always stood out to me ever since I first met them in the pages of Marvel comics when I was a boy," showrunner Joe Pokaski shared about the casting. "When Olivia and Aubrey read for the roles, these characters leapt off the page. We’re so excited to see what these talented young actors bring to the Marvel Universe."
After news of the casting broke, Olivia's mom Kim Peterson Holt took to Instagram to share her pride, writing "my daughter is a superhero!"
The network has not yet released when the show is expected to air, and we can't wait to meet Olivia and Aubrey's new characters!
