Liam Payne was feeling the heat from Directioners yesterday after they called him out for a comment he made during One Direction's latest show. When he was up on stage introducing "Girl Almighty," he made a joke that many did not find very funny.
"This is my favorite song off the last album [Four], and it is about trying to find that number one woman of your life, which none of you can relate to, 'cause most of you are girls. Except for the boys in here — you know what I'm talking about," Liam said.
His introduction to the song may have seemed harmless to him, but fans did not like how he automatically assumed that only the boys in attendance could relate. Since there aren't only heterosexual couples in the world, girls can easily know what this feels like too. He took to Twitter to clear the air.
lol think some people take things to literal these days not gunna comment on it anymore you guys know what I meant it was meant in general— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) August 19, 2015
He said his intentions never were to hurt anyone's feelings and that he is supports any type of relationship.
I am in no way shape or form homophobic that's a ridicules thing to say and I'm not here to offend people so take it as you will— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) August 19, 2015
Liam just wants to make sure everyone has a great time at the 1D shows and he would much rather people just focus on the music he is making with his bandmates.
So annoying trying your hardest to make people happy in a show and you think about all the notes u tried to hit higher or a little sweeter— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) August 19, 2015
He did realize the error of his ways and apologized.
I'm sorry to those I offended really I am but there's no need for some of the things I'm being called— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) August 19, 2015
After all, he just wants to make everyone happy.
I'm just here to make people smile I kinda consider it my job role— Liam (@Real_Liam_Payne) August 19, 2015
It definitely isn't easy having what feels like the whole world closely analyzing everything you say. But let's hope Liam will be a tad bit more careful in the future, since this isn't the first time he has come under fire for certain things he has said. Liam means well, and we're glad he always manages to share his thoughts with fans and make them feel better, any way he can.
