Kira Kosarin is one of the main cast members of The Thundermans, so it's only natural for the starlet to be attending the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The actress took to Twitter to express her excitement over the fact that country singer Blake Shelton will be hosting the show this year.
However, Kira then made a revelation after her initial congratulatory tweet: the awards show hasn't been hosted by a woman by herself in more than a decade. The last time this happened was in 2003, when actress Rosie O'Donnell had the hosting duties.
Kira didn't want to take anything away from Blake, since she thinks he's going to be a great host, but she just had to bring up this fact. Granted, Cameron Diaz did co-host the ceremony with Mike Meyers in 2004, but that was still a long time ago, and she didn't get to fly solo. Kira remains hopeful that the show in 2017 will break this long-standing pattern of only have guys serve as the emcee of the event.
Here's to hoping #KCA2017 will see its first solo female host since 2003...— Kira Kosarin (@kirakosarin) January 10, 2016
Props to Kira for fearlessly saying what's on her mind and raising some awareness to a super important issue.
