Some fans are really not happy with Kendall Jenner's latest photo shoot for Spanish Vogue. The model recently appeared in a ballet-themed spread and video shoot for the mag, where she dons gorgeous dresses, leotards, and even pointe shoes. But some people are calling out the model for appropriating an art she doesn't know about.
While many fans are loving Kendall's looks, several trained dancers expressed that they were upset with the model's portrayal of ballet, especially in the video interview that accompanies the photo shoot.
In this clip, it seems that Kendall is admits that the shoot fulfills a childhood fantasy where she wanted to be a ballerina.
"I had to grow up pretty fast, I love being a kid — to run around like a child just not caring, she says. "I’ve always been adventurous, so I love doing stuff like that — I don’t know, just stupid stuff. I love walking around; being able to be free."
Dance Spirit responded to the video, calling the whole thing "very, very facepalm-y."
"Why? Because they decided to dress Jenner up in tutus and legwarmers and have her “do ballet,” though she’s clearly not ballet trained," the post reads. "In the voiceover, she talks about 'loving being a kid' and missing childhood; the video is, apparently, a sort of little-girl fantasy on ballerina-ness. Which, OK. But to our eyes, the whole thing reads as pretty disrespectful to the artists who devote their lives to this demanding craft."
Beyond these points, it appears that Kendall was also attacked for her posing by Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller. In a now-deleted post, Abby apparently called out the model for her bad form.
