Jenna Ortega showed off one of her most daring red carpet looks ever when she hit the red carpet for the Disneynature Born In China movie premiere earlier this week. The Stuck in the Middle actress rocked a plaid button-up shirt with edgy culottes and patterned boots for the occasion, a look that had fans divided about in her Instagram comments section.
Some supporters loved her bold ensemble, which she called "Punk Rock Chic," but others admitted they weren't into her unconventional outfit choice. While it's fine to have different opinions about things, several posts in Jenna's comments sections got seriously mean – and it's never okay to be a bully.
Many comments bashed Jenna for her style, and made rude statements about her appearance.
Well, Jenna responded to a few fans who stepped in to praise her look and shut down bullies, and also explain why there's no room for mean words in her comments section.
"If you don't like it, that's fine. But I prefer that you keep your rude comment to yourself if you don't have anything nice to say! I loved it and I felt confident, and that's all that matters 😊," Jenna responded on Instagram.
Jenna's words are the perfect reminder of something that is always good to keep in mind: not only are celebrities real people behind their social media accounts (which means they don't like getting nasty comments left on their photos any more than you would!) but it's okay to have a negative opinion about something (like an outfit, a haircut, or a movie, for example) without publicly making rude statements about it in attempts to tear someone else down.
We love that Jenna stepped in to remind her fans that she felt confident and cool in her outfit, which is the real reason we all love having fun with fashion in the first place!
