In his new movie role for Helicopter Mom, Jason Dolley plays a high schooler with a way overbearing mom who gets all up in his business. So many teens can relate to the struggle that is having a parent that is totally smothering, but when TWIST chatted with Jason about his new film, he reminded us to remember that parents usually mean well.
"I would try to meet them where they're at and try to understand what they're going through. Because it's not something that you really can understand... all their feelings?" Jason advised about dealing with a protective parent situation. "Just recognize that there's a level to what's going on that you can't understand. And I think that will actually go a long way in preventing any issues that are there. Because you know, everyone is trying to do the right thing.... When you're frustrated with them trying to pick apart your life and do everything for you, just remember that they're trying to do what's right for you."
That's some solid advice, and as difficult as it can be to try to understand how your parents are feeling, it's definitely worth a try.
