We're only one day away from Insurgent, the next installment in the Divergent Series, hitting theaters and we can't wait to see Tris, Four and Caleb back in action. Ansel Elgort, who plays Caleb, recently revealed that you might notice something a bit off during all of the movie's intense running scenes.
You might pick up on the fact that Caleb doesn't run very well compared to the other characters. Before you think that Ansel is bad at running— for the record he's not— he informed us all that Caleb's lack of running skills was all done on purpose!
"I'm trying to do my worst. I'm an athlete and I work out all the time, but it was a very conscious decision," Ansel explained. "Shailene and Theo are superheroes. They're physical and they're incredible and Caleb is not. Caleb represents the intellectual side and the guy who isn't physical. I wanted to make sure that was on screen."
"I wanted to make sure that it made sense and that him running after the train he doesn't run like a superhero and then all of a sudden he says, 'I'm not cut out for this. I can't do this.' And you're like yes you can, you just ran perfectly," Ansel said. "He's never had to run as fast as he can in his life. I'm glad people are noticing."
So we can credit Caleb's inability to run very well to Ansel wanting to make sure it all came across realistic. Method acting at its finest!
