Dove Cameron just dropped some Liv & Maddie bombshells in her latest interview! In a new video with Young Hollywood, the actress dished that the original concept for the Disney Channel show was much different than it turned out to be, and she was so scared about not being able to play the part of twins correctly.
Dove said she was so nervous her first day on set – especially since the show turned out to have a different concept than the one she auditioned with "I was terrified!" she shared. "It didn't start out with me playing twins! So when I came on set, I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. And I thought, 'I'm going to let Disney down. My inner child was freaking out, like 'Mickey's gonna hate me!'"
"I was a nervous wreck, because I didn't audition to play the twins. I only auditioned to play one person, it was a completely different show in the beginning. I played one girl named Alanna who is neither Liv nor Maddie, and she didn't have a twin – there was no twins," Dove explained. "We went away for testing after we filmed the pilot and everybody got to say [what they wanted more of.] So the day I found out we got picked up, they were like, also it's about twins, and you're the twins!"
Dove's first reaction to that news was great. "I was so excited, because I was like, they see potential in me," Dove dished. "But then the second thought, right after that, was like, I'm going to fall on my face, I don't even know how to play one character, let alone two. I was so green, they trusted me with a lot."
"It was really scary, but it turned out to be the best acting exercise, the best education, and the most life-changing thing," Dove shared. "Liv & Maddie is sort of home base for me. Without Liv & Maddie, I wouldn't have anything that I have today in my career. It's completely changed my life, so it's really special to me."
