If you were looking to find style inspiration from any Disney Channel Original Movie, you would likely find Descendants to be full of colorful and unique looks. From the edgy villains' costumes to the preppy and classic Auradon students' styles, the film features all kinds of wonderful fashions – and the upcoming sequel Descendants 2 is going to top the first in terms of incredible costumes.
The costumes for the first movie and its sequel are designed by Kara Saun who – fun fact! – actually appeared appeared on the first season of Project Runway. She has previously said it was her whole intention to create designs that felt authentic within Disney's history, but were also unlike anything else you've ever seen before.
"Talking with Disney and Kenny Ortega, the director, it was really important that we forge a new kind of fashion legacy. We all grew up on Disney, and it was really fun to recreate this kind of new vision for Disney," she told Disney Style. "For me, it’s all about research. I went to the Disney vault. I looked at all of the original artwork and sketches. I watched all the Disney movies countless times to really look at the details, the colors, and the symbols of each story."
Kara loved creating the original villain outfits – and setting the stage for the sequel movie in terms of what we can expect to see them wearing.
"I loved creating the costumes for the kids of the villains. It’s the first time you’re seeing them in this way and creating that new legacy for them, deciding what that look was going to be, and making sure that every time you see them, you know who their parents are. It was really fun creating their signature wardrobes," she previously shared.
To get you hyped for the second movie, we're rounding up behind-the-scenes set and wardrobe photos that Disney shared from the upcoming production to give you a further sense of what the new costumes will look like.
