A star's very first red carpet experience can be a big deal: it's super scary and intimidating, but it's definitely the start of an exciting and glamorous career to come! When singer Christina Grimmie visited the TWIST offices recently, we asked her to give us the scoop on her first red carpet memory.
"I was at the Concert for Hope [that] City of Hope was doing, and I was opening for Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers," Christina dishes. "I didn't know what to wear at the time, it was super awkward. There were all these cameras and I thought I was going to pass out because there were so many flashes. I was like, 'do celebrities do this ALL the time?!' It was kind of hard to see. I didn't know what to do, I had to have someone hold my hand and tell me, now walk here, do this..."
In honor of Throwback Thursday, we thought we'd take a trip down memory lane to see exactly which pics Christina was talking about! Here's her pic from her first event in 2011:
"The [event] that freaked me out the most was the AMAs in 2011 I think," she shares about another red carpet experience. "It was such a big carpet, I must have taken 10 different steps with flashes eveywhere, and when I got done with pictures, there was this HUGE interview line, and I was like WOAH this is so big. That was my first real huge red carpet, a fun experience for me."
Here's a pic from that event:
In the years since, the singer has gotten way more comfortable strutting down awards show red carpets and concert lines. "I've gotten used to [it] more... I at least don't want to pass out," she jokes. She definitely keeps getting more fabulous!
