We are totally on the edge of our seats over the upcoming premiere of Descendants 2 here at TWIST. Even though the air date has not yet been revealed, it has been confirmed that the DCOM will finally come out sometime this summer. Oh, how we simply cannot wait. But you probably know that, based on the fact that we're already obsessing over the new posters, action-packed previews and crazy costumes we've seen – not just from the new characters, but the OG stars got major makeovers that we are super pumped about as well.
D2 fans will be happy to hear that Disney Channel is helping ease the anticipation by giving us some behind-the-scenes clips that show what it's like to be a member of the cast – well, what it's like to be China McClain, to be exact. In the sneak peek clip, China kicks off her day of filming by getting transformed into her character Uma (the daughter of Ursula).
“It really helps me get into character, to be honest. It really helps me a lot,” China said in the clip.
“I really enjoy it. It helps me to get into character a lot, especially when I get the wig on. I’m like 'I’m Uma.' And then, I get my sword – and I’m like, 'I’m really Uma.'"
In another clip, China lets us in on the secret behind how she achieves Uma's long, blue braided hairstyle. Turns out, it's a wig – er, most of it is a wig. The front section of China's hair is braided with colored extensions, while the back portion of her hair is totally fake. So what seems like a 'do that would take hours to do only takes about five minutes. Who knew?!
“Right now, I am getting my wig put on. I have the front two rows of my actual hair braided with colored extensions, and the rest of this back here is a wig. So people are really confused when they see it. They’re like, ‘Is your whole head braided? Like how long did that take?’ I’m like, ‘Five minutes.’”
Her hairstyle isn't the only secret she spilled about her look. She revealed something special about one of her outfits that helps her out with her sword fight scene.
"You’d never know this, but we have a sword fight today so I have knee pads on underneath these jeans,” she said. “I feel like I’m on a pillow!"
Amazing! Now that we've learned all the secrets behind Uma's look, we can't wait to see what the other cast members have in store.
