Madison Beer unexpectedly caused a flurry of controversy when her period leaked and stained her swimsuit while vacationing with her boyfriend Jack Gilinsky. The entire sequence of events was caught in a slew of paparazzi photos, but the pop star gracefully shut down the period shamers. Fans and friends have been showing their support since the incident was blown out of proportion, including one very famous, body-positive friend.
Bella Thorne slammed Madison's haters, sharing a powerful message about how periods are a normal function of the human body and don't make anybody "gross." Basically, she's saying that it's normal, it's natural, get over it! (And she's totally right.)
The Famous in Love actress tagged the "Unbreakable" singer and tweeted, "If you think someone is gross because they got their period you got a serious problem man. IT'S THE HUMAN BODY GET OVER IT."
If you think someone is gross because they got their period you got a serious problem man. ITS THE HUMAN BODY GET OVER IT @MadisonBeer ❤️❤️— bella thorne (@bellathorne) January 15, 2017
Madison praised Bella's tweet with a simple "amen sister."
Fans and followers on social media responded and showed their support, tweeting about how much they love Bella's message, and don't think anyone's period should cause this much controversy.
@MadisonBeer it's such a natural thing that's why I really don't understand why people made a big deal out of it— Cece (@ClassicButerax) January 15, 2017
Sometimes, period stains happen, and we're so inspired by Madison's cool, calm, and collected response to the period shamers who are trying to keep her down. Plus, it is so awesome to see stars like Bella chime in with their support. It helps destigmatize periods, instead of keeping it as this totally taboo topic that no one talks about — and that's a powerful thing.
