Alli Simpson hosts The Alli Simpson Show on Radio Disney, where she chats with her super cool friends like Selena Gomez and Olivia Holt and she dishes out some advice to listeners too. We chatted with Alli at the On the Road to the Radio Disney Music Awards event where she spilled to us exactly why she decided to step behind the microphone.
"I started the radio show, because I know as a teenage girl, even just as an average teenage girl, it’s tough, the pressures of looking good, of being thin, all this stuff," Alli told TWIST. "So many girls have insecurities and get bullied because of things like that. It makes me really sad that any other girl would get put down for the way they look. So I think if you’re comfortable in yourself and you’re happy, you don’t need to be anything that you’re not."
"I started the radio show so I can get the message out and talk to girls and give them advice and stuff like that. Since I’ve struggled a lot with that, I’ve had times where I just sit in my room and cry about it. I read things on Instagram and sometimes it’s awful and it makes me so upset that it happens to other people than to me because I don’t want anyone to be sad ever. I feel for people and I want to make a difference."
So Alli is literally the best! She deals with the same thing that all girls her age struggle with and she felt like she just had to use her voice to spread a little positivity and help others out in any way she can. It's always nice to hear celebs are using their star power to make a change and Alli is all about being supportive.
