Something truly sickening happened to singer and Royal Crush and The Keys of Christmas star Alex Aiono this week. The actor took to his Instagram story to share the terrible experience he ran into at the grocery store, in which his sister experienced racism first-hand.
"Yo, this is just a PSA for anybody who has any form of racism in their heart. Do us all a favor. Lock yourself in a room," Alex began, visibly heated from the encounter he just ran into.
The "Work the Middle" singer went on to explain what happened, and it's truly infuriating.
"So my sister walks into Ralph's, and we're all sitting outside – and she comes out crying saying a woman made a racial remark to her because my sister said 'excuse me' and reached over to grab something. And the best part is – is that when we wait by her car and I confront her afterwards, she acts like nothing ever – honestly."
His poor sister. It breaks our hearts that Alex's sister was confronted with such a mean spirited person.
"So you'll be racist and you'll make a racist remark when it's two women vs. one girl, but when you come outside and you see a 21 year old guy that asks you about, I didn't do anything – I just asked about it, you're a chicken. Honestly, any form of prejudice is bad – but especially racism. This is 2017. I have zero tolerance. You are disgusting if you have racism in your heart. And I get it, I'm very very fired up right now. It happened to my sister. It was very personal on me."
Alex has a right to be so angry after this traumatic experience.
"But honestly, if you have any form of racism in your heart or in your mind do us all a favor and just lock yourself in a room."
Unfortunately, Alex isn't the only celebrity who has experienced a situation similar to this one. Just last year, Zendaya was denied service at a store where she was trying to buy gift cards. It is absolutely shocking that someone would be mistreated based on their skin color – especially in this day and age.
We're hoping that Alex standing up to racism helps remind his fans to spread some extra kindness today and every day.
