Our hearts are heavy this morning, as we report the news that actor and director Alan Rickman has passed away. The star, who you may know best for his role as Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film franchise, died at age 69 after battling cancer.
A statement released by his family said that "he was surrounded by family and friends" at the time of his passing.
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to express her condolences and remember Alan.
