The guys from 5 Seconds of Summer know their fans are anxiously waiting to hear brand new music, and drummer Ashton Irwin has made it clear that Sounds Good Feels Good will be worth the wait. In a new interview, he spoke about why it was important for him, Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood to make songs that have meaning behind them and will really connect to the deeper issues their fans are dealing with, since the guys can completely relate.
“Look at top 40 radio. No one is writing music that highlights what everyone is scared to talk about," Ashton said. "People our age, we all feel [bad] about ourselves. We wake up and we look at our phones and there are a thousand opinions on who we are ─ or what we are. It’s destructive.
5SOS knows that sometimes it's just hard being a young adult, since they're the same age as their fans. They hope this new album will be filled with songs that ultimately help others.
"The fans feel like they know us, because they do,” Ashton continued. “We’re here together in 2015, and we’re experiencing the same issues.”
And that is what makes this band so special.
