We recently chatted with the super cute and super talented musician KDrew, who told us all about his music, who he'd love to collaborate with, and what he looks for in a girl! We also have one awesome KDrew package to give away - a foam finger and three of his EPs! Too cool! All you have to do to win is follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and comment below and tell us why you like KDrew's music! We'll pick a winner next week!
TWIST: Can you tell us a little bit about your music style? KD: My music style... I definitely couldn't really tell you what it is 'cause there's so many different genres. I do a lot of pop, but I also do rock. And my last EP, which is the fourth one, is dub-step. So, it's kind of all over the place! TWIST: Cool! So, who are your musical influences? KD: Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, Skrillex, Soundgarden... a bunch of different ones! TWIST: Cool! If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be? KD: (Immediately) Chris Martin of Coldplay. For sure! TWIST: Oh wow, you sound very definitive about that! KD: Yeah, he's definitely somebody I really respect, and I love their music, and it's just really good stuff!
TWIST: You were bullied in high school for joining chorus and taking music classes. How did you deal with that? KD: At first, it was very tough to deal with, because obviously you don't go to school thinking that you're going to be made fun of or anything like that, so, at first it was definitely hard. I guess I just got fed up with it and just felt strong - strong enough about myself and I got through it. And my senior year was when I was like, you know what, I'm not doing any sports. And I joined all of my chorus classes again and it was like my last hurrah because I was the big man on campus. It was tough though, but I got through it.
TWIST: Good! Can you tell us a little bit about your EPs? I know you have seven that are coming out. KD: The fourth one just dropped, they all come out on the first of each month. So, basically, it's just a collective of all of the music that I've been making for the past year or two years. And it's also music that I haven't even finished yet, you know, that I still have to put out. I really wanted to get music out to all my fans, but I wanted to get a lot to them. And also, when you put out music nowadays it kind of gets lost because there's so much music coming out every single day. So, I thought the best way to do that was to put out seven EPs.
TWIST: That's a great way to do it! So, what do you look for in a girl? KD: Just kind. A good personality. That's it. You know, I think when a girl's got a good personality it brings out the good personality in you.
TWIST: Would you date a fan? KD: You know what - whether you're a fan, or a huge superstar, you could be some girl that works in a Dunkin' Donuts, whatever - if you're a good person, that's just who you are! And yeah, I'd date whoever! TWIST Great! So, what are your plans for the future in terms of your music? KD: I definitely want to work with other artists, whether they're already established artists or new artists. We'd preferably like to work with a newer artist and kind of lead them in the right direction and create their music and their sound, and kind of just help them get to where they want to be.
TWIST: Okay, great! Thank you so much for talking with us! KD: Thank you!
