TWIST just chatted with Alexis Knapp who plays Stacie in the upcoming film Pitch Perfect. She dished on memorable moments from the set, how the cast became a family and the crazy journey that The Bellas take! Check out our exclusive convo below and don't forget to check out Pitch Perfect, in theaters October 5!
TWIST: So tell me about your character, Stacie, in Pitch Perfect.
AK: Stacie is very passionate about what she does. She's a little oblivious with how she appears. She just goes with how she feels, so she tends to sing and perform a little over-the-top. So she struggles with having to tone it down throughout the film, which you'll see.
TWIST: So do you relate to Stacie in any way or are you different?
AK: I'm the complete polar opposite! I am very aware of what my body is doing. I mean I grew up singing and dancing all my life and I never had the problems Stacie has.
TWIST: Can you give us any spoilers on any crazy adventures the Bellas take in the movie?
AK: There are definitely some love interests that happen between the Bellas and the Troubles. But, there's a lot of competition there, so it's definitely a constant struggle between finding that middle ground. Plus, you see in the beginning that the Bellas are very conservative and uptight and a little bit feminist when it comes to what they perform and the pieces that they choose to sing. But, throughout this film and with the help and influence of some of the new people, specifically Beca, they branch out of that and completely flip 180. The Bellas become these rockstars that just go through this crazy adventure and prevail more than we could have ever expected them to.
TWIST: After watching the trailer, the movie looks so funny! How did everyone get along on set?
AK: I know that a lot of people say that in film people become like family, but in this one it literally was like that. It was the greatest cast I've ever worked with. It was such a big group and everyone was so grounded and so nice and so warm. Everyone just always had a smile on his or her face and there were never any major problems. There were no diva attitudes and we're all still very close and we still hang out. We all support each other and go to each other's comedy shows and things like that. So it was really wonderful working with everybody.
TWIST: Why should TWIST readers see Pitch Perfect?
AK: Because it is one of those films that you can watch over and over again and because it's just so much fun. It's not only a musical with so many fantastic pieces in it, but it's such a great cast with so much talent. The writing is hilarious, the performing is fantastic and it's just overall a fun, entertaining film! I think that young girls and boys can become inspired by it and think, 'Hey! I want to do that too.' And maybe they'll join chorus or a dance class. Maybe even start an a cappella group themselves.
TWIST: What's next for you?
AK: I have a movie called So Undercover coming out in December. And there are a lot of things in the works I'm not allowed to say yet, but it's exciting. So stay tuned!
TWIST: Thank you so much for chatting with us!
AK: Thank you!
