TWIST: How has your US tour been going? Jamie Scott: It's been going really well, thank you. People have been coming to the shows, which is always good. It's just been an amazing experience traveling America and seeing so many different places.
TWIST: How did you get your start in the business? JS: I wrote a song when I was like 18, for a guy named Eric Benet, he used to be married to Halle Berry, he was a soul singer. He never heard it, but a publishing company did, and they signed me. I was signed to a record label about two months later.
TWIST: Who are some of your musical influences? JS: I grew up on like, Bob Dylan, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, a lot of folk music, things like Stevie Wonder. I listened to a lot of old school music because of my parents. TWIST: So you write music for One Direction, what are the boys like? JS: They are cool, very cool. I was really kinda surprised and impressed with the vibe between the band, because I've worked with a lot of pop artists and a lot of bands. One Direction had this quite naïve but amazing innocence about the way they were hanging out and the way they were singing and I thought it was really special.
TWIST: Which songs did you write the music for? JS: I wrote 'More Than This' and 'Stole My Heart.'
TWIST: What made you want to work with them? JS: I've just got a good relationship with Syco, their record label, and Simon and I knew it was something they were really into and I knew it was something they would really get behind. You know, I grew up on a lot of old school music but when I was younger I loved good songs. So you know I was a big fan of some of the Backstreet Boys songs and some *NSYNC songs and I generally think that these guys have what it takes to be that global and it's a pleasure to be part of it.
TWIST: Are you going to be working with them on their upcoming album? JS: I am actually! I'm going back next week to do it.
TWIST: Can you tell us a little bit about it? JS: No! But, it's very good. I've written a few songs for it.
TWIST: Do you guys hang out a lot? JS: Just when we're working together. Liam's been saying he wants to play a bit of football, but we just haven't quite found the time because I've been on the road and they've been over here.
TWIST: Thanks for talking with us! JS: Thank you!
