TWIST: How's your character in State of Georgia different than your character in That's So Raven?
Raven: I think Georgia Chamberland is Raven Baxter if she moved somewhere else and if she got a new family! Her ambitions are the same of wanting to reach her dreams and doing whatever she has to do to reach them. Her loyalty to her family is the same, but Georgia's maturity level is a little bit higher because she's older. But the ultimate thing that I like to play, the confident fun girl who's down for whatever, is still prevalent in this character.
TWIST: Can you tell us a little bit about doing physical comedy, like in State of Georgia and That's So Raven, and how you keep your composure during a live tapping?
Raven: That's what I live for! I love to make people laugh, and honestly, I just love to act crazy on TV! There's so many rules and stuff in the real world, why not just go crazy and full force when I'm on TV and just blame it on the character?! It's easy to keep your composure if you know you're trying to make someone laugh! If I make myself crack, it's a big deal. I just go for it and it brings me joy! I'm that way with my friends too, if they're in a bad mood I'll do just about anything to make them smile!
TWIST: Tell us about some fun moments on the set of State of Georgia!
Raven: There's been a lot of fun moments! I mean, there's been chicken suits and Jason Duerlo in a king costume, and jokes and all kinds of stuff! It's always been fun, especially with the cast and crew and getting to know one another and you know, feeling comfortable on the set but still having to put your best foot forward. There are mess-ups and flubs and great moments always!
TWIST: In the show, Georgia moves to New York City to pursue her dreams. What's the biggest challenge you've had to overcome in your career?
Raven: Just being a human being in this industry is very difficult. Having people to see you as you grow up, and not the person that they want you to be, or that they've seen for so long, I think that happens in everyone's life, let alone career. It's a good thing and it helps you learn how to deal with people. It helps you learn to be diplomatic in your speech and I'm growing and learning everyday, as well as teaching and learning everyday.
TWIST: If you could chose one person to guest star on State of Georgia, who would it to be?
Raven: I would like it to be... somebody from That's So Raven! That or Janet Jackson, but I'll choose somebody from Raven! I think it would be funny to see me as a new character, with them as a different character, and see how the audience would react to that! I miss working with my crew, so I would like to work with them again in some capacity.
TWIST: What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?
Raven: I hope to accomplish my goals! Whether it's with my bank account, or it's with charities of certain kinds. And I hope to accomplish lots of smiles on everyone's faces!
TWIST: Sounds great to us! Thanks Raven!
Raven: Thanks TWIST!
