Hey TWIST girls,
TWIST just got the chance to talk to Michael and Marisa. They are a brother and sister duo that has opened up for Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson! They are only 13 and 14 years old and have already accomplished so much. They told us about how they got stared, about their sound, and told us what it was like touring with Greyson! Read our full interview below and check out their newest single "You Feel Like Saturday."
TWIST: How did you guys get started?
Michael: I was basically born musical, I never wanted any toys I just wanted CDs and cassettes because they had cassettes when I was really little . when I was 6 I wanted to take up the guitar so I did. When I was 7 my parents asked me I if wanted to go an open mic and I said yes and people saw me there and wanted me to do a festival and people saw me there and then it kept on growing and growing. When Marisa was 8 and I was 7 she took up the drums, and it took off from there.
TWIST: How would you describe your sound?
Marisa: It's kind of pop with an edge to it, like pop rock and it's a little indie too.
Michael: It also has a message. It's not like songs that don't have a purpose. It has meaning
TWIST: Who are some of your musical inspirations?
Marisa: Well we grew up listening to The Beatles and then I am really into Jessie J and Lily Allen. I'm also into AC/DC and Led Zepplin, that kind of thing.
Michael: Lady gaga because not only do I love her music I love how she's not afraid to express herself and be who she is
TWST: What's it like being on tour with Greyson?
Marisa: We did the Waiting for you Tour with Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance before this and Greyson wanted us to tour with him, this is his first headlining tour and he wanted us to tour with him. So we just came back from two tour dates one was in Lancaster and one was in Pittsbrugh and next week we're heading down to Texas. We're having a really great time so it's awesome, he's really nice.
TWIST: Do you hang out at all?
Marisa: Yeah backstage and stuff because we're the only kids back there. And he's a really nice guy and we have a lot in common. Michael and him especially.
TWIST: What do you have in common?
Michael: We both love Lady Gaga
Marisa: They're both musical. At school you don't find a lot of kids who are in to music stuff, especially boys. So they both have that music thing.
TWIST: Do you have any upcoming projects?
Marisa: Well we just came back from Nashville two weeks ago. And we wrote two songs. We're going to record them soon! Then those should be out sometime soon once they're finished. We're really excited about those!
TWIST: That's so exciting! We can't wait. Thanks for talking to us.
Michael and Marisa: Thanks TWIST!
