Hey Twist Readers,
Up-and-coming singer, Jackson Harris dropped by the TWIST offices yesterday to tell us about what inspires him to write songs, what he looks for in a girl, and who his celeb crushes are! Read more about him and check out the video of him performing his song "Someone Tell Brittany!"
Twist: What inspires you?
J: Sometimes common conversation inspires me. I use some of the things we say and try to flip their meanings. "Long Story Short" came out of that because I was having to say that to so many people like, "Well, long story short...I'm trying to make music or this and that," But it definitely takes a good movie, a good album, definitely a relationship - that's a lot of fodder for good material. And a pretty girl would help!
Twist: Do you have any concerts or shows coming up soon?
J: Yeah, we're heading out to L.A. next week and we'll do a few little meet and greets and surprise tweeted concerts in and around L.A. Also we'll be coming back to New York after that and doing a special video shoot that's a little under wraps as of right now. We may tweet out a location for fans to come and possibly be in the video. And we're also looking towards the summer for the mall and/or amusement park tour.
Twist: Do you have a girlfriend?
J: No, I wish it were as easy as TV shows make it seem. But it's been really difficult with traveling. I've met really sweet, cute girls and it's even worse then because you know you're only going to be in town for two or three days. But I'm single and excited for the summer and whatever that will bring! My dad was a dentist so I guess it's ingrained in my head - I like girls with nice teeth. It's not even like they have to be straight but girls have to be clean about their teeth, and have a nice smile. I like a girl that has a sense of humor like a guy - that she can hang.
Twist: Do you have any celeb crushes?
J: Yeah, Adele. I'm so attracted to her because she's so good at what she does. I think she's incredibly beautiful and I think its really nice that we're in a time that an artist like that can just come out and isn't just sold as a body image. Then on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, just because she's crazy awesome, I like Gaga. It's a weird crush, just because she's willing to be that nuts - I'm sure it would be fun. I can't even imagine hanging out with her for a day. It would probably be more fun doing nothing with Gaga because she's always wearing the crazy hats and stuff.
