We got a chance to sit down with new musical artist Jackson Guthy! You may recognize him from his performance of his first single "Loving" on The Ellen Degeneres Show. Jackson told us a little about his music, what inspires him, and more - read on to find out what he told us and check out or exclusive performance video below!
TWIST: Can you tell me a little bit about your music?
Jackson: Yeah I've been writing music ever since I was 6 years old. I've been playing piano since I was 2 then around 6 I started branching off and writing my own music. Ever since then all the songs on the LP are all songs that I've written. I have about 200 songs I've written in total. Me and my producer Frankie Perez have been working really hard over the past year and it's all going really well.
TWIST: That's great! What inspires you to write your songs?
Jackson: I think it's just everyday experiences. Whether it's me at school or life with girls, or sometimes life in general. As long as I'm feeling it I can write about it.
TWIST: Who are some of your musical influences?
Jackson: Definitely John Mayer, I like his style of music. And also Justin Timberlake, I like his style of music too. I like how he can do the dancing, the acting, and then has that same longevity as a career. I like how he can make it past a child artist into an adult, I think that's pretty cool. I would definitely want to do a duet with Justin Timberlake.
TWIST: What can we expect from you in the future?
Jackson: Well my music video comes out for my song "Loving" in about two weeks. My EP comes out late summer, early fall and the LP comes out around November or December.
TWIST: Awesome! Do you have a message to your fans?
Jackson: Don't be afraid to live your dreams, no matter what people say. People are always going to try to put you down but just keep your head up.
