TWIST chatted with The Art of Getting By's Emma Roberts, and she shared her favorite things about her character Sally and how alike they are! Check out our interview below!
TWIST: Could you describe your character Sally for us?
Emma: Sally is George's (Freddie Highmore) love interest in the movie, and I really like Sally because I feel like she's very real. She's not the popular girl, but she's not the nerd. She's kind of the middle ground between the two and I think that comes off the most real.
TWIST: How did you relate to her?
Emma: Number one [was] our fashion tastes. The way she was described in the script and the way I am was very similar. It was fun to collaborate with everyone on the fashion. Also, we've all been in a position where we're finishing school, and we're having to make serious decisions, and there's a lot of transitions going on with family and friends, and having to deal with all that is very real and honest.
TWIST: Is there anything in particular about her fashion sense that appealed to you? Did you get to work with the designers?
Emma: I wore a lot of my own clothes actually. On the poster the leather jacket and the brown boots are mine. I loaned [them] to Sally to give her some personality.
TWIST: Why should our readers absolutely check it out?
Emma: It's one of those movies that you can always watch. It's very like 500 Days of Summer. I've seen that movie at least ten times! And there's a bunch of special features on the DVD.
TWIST: Can you tell us about any upcoming projects?
Emma: I have a movie coming out next year called Celeste and Jesse Forever. It's a romantic comedy, and I play a pop star in it named Riley, and I get to be completely ridiculous. I wear crazy outfits and a hot pink wig at one point!
