Two months ago, Selena Gomez decided the moment had come to speak openly about something very serious she is dealing with: she was diagnosed with lupus, "a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body," and she even underwent treatment for the condition she has for life. In a new interview, the singer has opened up again about his diagnosis, this time thanking everyone who has shown her nothing but love.
"It has been overwhelming and the response has been very supportive, which is nice — but it still makes me a little uncomfortable. I waited for the right time to talk about it because I am in a great place and I'm very healthy. I'm not trying to be loud about it. It was time to use my platform to help," Selena said.
This is something very personal that she didn't have to ever share with the world, but the "Same Old Love" singer hopes she can help others by being open about her own struggles. And that is something to admire.
