If you are a fan of the animated movie Hotel Transylvania and its sequel, you are in for quite a treat. Disney Channel just announced that they will be adapting the vampire films into a summer television series for their network, consisting of 26 episodes of 22 minutes each.
"We have some fangtastic news to share - Hotel Transylvania: The Series is coming to Disney Channel! Catch the premiere on Sunday, June 25th at 8p," Disney Channel shared on Facebook along with a first-look video that gives you a sneak peek at what's ahead.
The show "focuses on the teenage years of Dracula's daughter, Mavis, and her three closest friends Hank N Stein, Pedro and Wendy Blob. With Dracula away on 'Official Vampire Business,' Mavis finally sees her chance to show her father what she can do," according to a show description. "With the help of her friends, she decides to put her brilliant ideas of how to run the Hotel into motion, but enter Aunt Lydia, Dracula’s older and much meaner sister. While Mavis and friends are ready to let loose and have fun, Aunt Lydia pushes for even more order and tradition at the Hotel."
While this is super exciting and all, we are still left with so many questions! Most of all, will Selena Gomez be reprising her role of Mavis, who she voiced in the theatrical versions? (It wouldn't be the first time the actress re-partnered with Disney since her Wizards of Waverly Place days, but it would be cool!)
According to Selena's IMDb page, she is a part of the upcoming 2018 movie, Hotel Translyvania 3, but she doesn't have any credits listed for the television version. So we will just have to wait and find out which actors the voice cast includes!
In addition, Disney is reportedly set to premiere three new shorts featuring Mavis and her dad, starting on Sunday, June 4, leading up to the TV series debut. The series itself premieres on Disney Channel on Sunday, June 25 at 8pm ET/PT with new episodes airing every night at 8pm ET/PT through Thursday, June 29, with te first episode will be available on the Disney Channel app, YouTube and On Demand on Tuesday, June 20th. After that, the series regular timeslot will be Sundays at 8:30pm ET/PT on Disney Channel.
