Dedicated Ross Lynch fans most certainly noticed that the star's tousled blond hair had been growing out longer and longer than ever before in recent months. Was it all part of his rockstar image while he was performing with his band R5? Well, not entirely. Ross' hair makeover was a big part of him getting into character for his upcoming role in My Friend Dahmer.
"You guys! My Friend Dahmer will be premiering at the 2017 @Tribeca Film Festival. I am so excited for you to see it! #Tribeca2017," Ross posted on Instagram and Twitter, revealing the first look at his bespectacled character.
This is a way different look – and character! – for the former Disney Channel star, but it looks like Ross is more excited than ever to be working on this project.
Apparently with his costume glasses, Ross looks so much like the real-life person his character is portraying that the vibe on set was crazy.
“Some of the real friends that grew up with Dahmer in the ’70s — the author of the book and a couple of others — came by set, and they confirmed for me how hauntingly similar Ross Lynch looks to the actual Dahmer," director Marc Meyers told Entertainment Weekly. “So much so, the author of the book asked him, ‘If you want to talk to me, please take your glasses off, because it’s freaking me out.'”
