The official full trailer for the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants 2 -- which airs Friday, July 21 -- just made its world debut at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. While the entire clip shook us to the core, one completely unexpected moment in the trailer is that we learn for the first time that Dove Cameron's character Mal rocks blonde hair in the sequel movie!
Sure, we know that Dove has blonde hair in real life, but Mal's signature purple hair was only represented with a touch of rainbow ombre. It appears that Mal changed her hair to be blonde in order to fit in at Auradon Prep.
But as we know from all of the previous movie promo, Mal definitely goes back to her purple hair -- a lighter, straight haircut with blunt bangs -- when she returns to the Isle of the Lost with the Villain Kids. She also references this in the trailer, chatting with Evie about her updated makeover, which she seems to love as much as we do.
Of course, we still have so many questions here: does her hair naturally change back and forth between blonde and purple through the use of her powers, or does she dye it when she hits monumental milestones in her life like all the rest of us mortals do? We guess we willl just have to watch this summer and see!
