Lucy Hale looks picture-perfect when we see her starring as the always fashion-forward Aria Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars. It's been noted the outfits the girls wear on the show are next-level, but Lucy wants fans to know that although they do look fabulous, it's not a realistic reflection on who she and her co-stars are IRL.
"The show is called Pretty Little Liars for a reason. It’s a beauty show — people come for the fashion, they come to see what we look like, and it's not always realistic, you know? Everything is about the physical appearance, and that can be unhealthy," she said in a new interview. "We all obsess about how we look, it’s human nature, but it’s sort of toxic if you’re not careful. It’s important for young girls to realize things like we have fake eyelashes on, some of us have extensions, we have good lighting. We are normal girls, we have zits, and it’s important that girls know that. I work with very beautiful people, don’t get me wrong, but there are a lot of tricks of the trade."
So Lucy wants everyone to keep in mind that the girls in Rosewood aren't actually real people and they look so perfect all the time because it's a TV show. It's a rather simple concept, but she's totally right, it's important to be reminded of this. Lucy even went on to explain how in reality, she's much more low maintenance and embraces the natural look, especially when it comes to her hair.
"My everyday routine is actually very low-key. It takes me 10 minutes to wake up and get out the door. I used to give myself a blowout and curl it, and that got exhausting, it’s a lot of work. Now I’ll let my hair air-dry because I like my natural texture. I have thick hair with a little bit of a wave," she said.
Lucy is just a barrel of wisdom!
