You may know LJ Benet for his role as Karl on Dog with a Blog, but he's had many acting jobs in his career! From stage to screen, LJ has been a part of several productions, and with each new role comes a new look. When TWIST caught up with the actor, we asked him if he would ever change his hair for a part, and he actually revealed that he's done that quite often!
"Oh I would do anything for a role, are you kidding me? Easy. I'm very flexible, so I could do that," he shares."There was one summer I was doing a theater show and they had to dye my hair to make me blond. I had darker hair, and to get me blond they bleached it and did a good job, but then when they tried to make it darker blond, it came out red. I [also] had this amazing bowl cut that everyone had at that time, when Justin Bieber had it and it was super popular. So I was pretty much the ginger Justin Bieber for a good two months of my life. It's not something I want to remember, it just happened."
"Then I did another show in San Diego and had to dye it completely black. I was playing the younger version of someone else who had black hair, so they cut it and literally gave me this Little Lord Fauntleroy, 17th century cut-across [style] because they needed to be shorter," he dishes. "I [usually] wore my hair down, but during the show I stuck it up. I had really long hair at the time and didn't know what short hair was, and so I always put it down and after he cut it I was like 'what did you do to my hair?! Why?!' They were like 'you're supposed to spike it up!' and I was like 'that makes sense, but how am I supposed to WALK AROUND?! People are going to look at me, this is terrible!"
That sounds hilarious!
"It takes a lot to be an actor," he laughs.
