Jake Miller is taking a heartbreaking experience and turning it into some beautiful music that will touch many lives. In February, the rapper lost one of childhood best friends, Dylan Andrew Schopp, to suicide. When Jake heard the news, he immediately headed to the studio and wrote a touching song for his friend - and it's called "Sunshine."
"I have a song called 'Sunshine' for my friend who passed away and it's definitely my most personal track I've ever made," Jake exclusively tells TWIST. "I just thought it's a story that should definitely be shared and the fact that my fans and everyone will be able to hear the song and the story of my friend Dylan, it's kind of just a great tribute. I just didn't want to make it for myself to have, but I wanted others to hear it as well. It was kind of tough, writing it in the studio, it was emotional and it's the most emotional session I've ever had. I was in there with other writers, telling them what happened and I wrote pretty much the entire thing, but I wanted to show them exactly where I was coming from."
Jake took something super personal and turned it into a song he hopes will help others. Since this week is National Suicide Prevention Week, it was the perfect time to share the music video for the song with the world. And it is truly something to be proud of.
