This is the kind of news we've been in denial about for quite some time now, but is One Direction officially taking an extended break? The band is allegedly going on a year-long hiatus after the release of their fifth album, starting in March 2016.
While this isn't a complete breakup, multiple sources report that the guys are said to want some time to work on their own projects.
"They are taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for a while but they are not splitting up. They will remain together and plan to work together in the future," a source dished to E! Online.
"They are great friends and fully support one another. They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group."
While we obviously never want to see the guys go their separate ways, they definitely deserves a restful break: after all, they've been touring and creating music on the most hectic schedule ever for the past five years, so we totally understand if they need some time to refresh. Management has yet to comment on the news, but our fingers are crossed that this won't turn into a full breakup – because it would honestly be too much to even handle.
