Designer Marc Jacobs always closes out New York Fashion Week with a bang. His elaborate shows are full of iconic looks, elaborate visuals and close detail. This time, all the buzz is about a controversial hairstyle his models wore on Thursday.
Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss took Marc Jacobs' twinkling runway in boldly patterned jackets, thigh-high stockings, 8-inch platform heels and faux dreadlocks. There is no denying the models looked gorgeous, but the uproar surrounding their hairstyle raises some concern.
Many say the Marc Jacobs fashion show was a total display of cultural appropriation, due to the fact that a predominately white group of models wore a hairstyle inspired by African-American culture. Others think the multicolored wool dreadlocks sent a positive message, saying that race doesn't define fashion. What do you think?
