Confirmed: Dove Cameron is beyond dedicated to the craft of acting. If you weren't already super impressed by how the actress, one person, is able to play both Liv AND Maddie in the Disney Channel series Liv and Maddie, you're about to be blown away by the personalized detail she snuck into the show to make the characters even more individually developed.
JustJaredJr reports that Dove confessed to making the decision to make Liv left-handed during Season 2, which left the showrunners scrambling to make sure this detail was consistent throughout the whole series!
"Our jaws dropped over that,” John D. Beck said. "We [had to] run upstairs to the editor…the three of us had seen so many cuts of all the episodes and we had to look through them all again, and we all hadn’t picked up on that."
It would be odd enough for this detail to get past eagle-eyed editors, but we dedicated fans at home would surely notice if Liv suddenly switched up her dominant hand.
It looks like Dove did a great job connecting the dots though, as Ron Hart confirmed: she kept this detail consistent to her character the entire time.
"We [even] talked to the props department after that and in the scenes where the girls were doing their homework, they have notebooks on their desks. There’s one that just looks like serial killer scrawl…and another that just had perfect little hearts over the eyes. Dove was completely dedicated," he said.
Of course, we'd expect nothing less of Dove than for her to perfectly weave in all the little characteristics that really bring her roles to life.
