Cole Sprouse will be returning to television soon in the upcoming new CW show, Riverdale, but it has been a minute since the star has acted. After appearing in some of our fave shows like The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and The Suite Life on Deck as a kid, he took several years off to go to college and finish up his studies. Well, in a new interview, Cole explained that he needed those five years to really find himself.
"There was a feeling of machination; I felt like an automaton," he told EW about his acting. "I needed to take a break and step outside myself…I needed a dose of reality and I needed to see myself in a more objective point of view. And now I think I can enjoy [acting], which is a really fundamental part about being an actor."
That doesn't mean that he and brother Dylan Sprouse hated their child acting days, they just wanted to approach future projects from a grown-up perspective.
"I’m not saying that we didn’t enjoy that time, but it was work. It’s a career and a business, and it got me to college, which is one of the most fantastic gifts I could’ve been given," Cole shared. "But I’m glad to be [acting] on my own accord now."
Riverdale will also be Cole's first time acting in a project without Dylan – but that may change if the opportunity comes up! "I’m sure he’d entertain that idea," Cole shared, about whether Dylan would join the cast as a guest if he were asked.
