Christian Burghardt's catchy new song, "Safe Place to Land," will definitely be stuck in your head for ages after you hear it, but it also has a deeply personal meaning behind it. When the singer stopped by our offices to perform his single, we asked him to tell us about the behind-the-scenes of making of his music video and the inspiration fueling his song's powerful words.
"I wrote it when I was at the very beginning of my record deal. I was in a relationship for about 3 years, and the girl I was with, our relationship was starting to fall apart," Christian tells TWIST exclusively. "The song was one of those last-ditch efforts of mine – with many other songs – to let her know that I was going to be there for her and be the person she could still depend on. I ended up losing her in the process, but I got the song, which became the single. Because of that [beginning], I think it comes from such an honest place for me, and that's why it's communicating with everybody so much on a deeper level."
The song is perfectly complemented by a beautiful, summery music video. "I wasn't really sure [what I wanted the video to look like]," Christian explains. "We went through a lot of different [options]. When they told me about this one, with the beach and the sunshine, and the whole positive, happy vibe, I was like, this is how the song sounds." It works so well!
