XOXO,
TWIST

TWIST: Can you describe your sound and the music that you guys make?
Brandon: Our music is all written by ourselves, so we like to combine a little bit of acoustic in it, and it's pop.
Savannah: So we would probably say our style is acoustic pop.

TWIST: Brandon, you play the guitar. Do you guys play any other instruments?
Brandon: Yes, I play guitar, piano, a little bit of drums and ukulele. I just dabble in a lot.
Savannah: I kind of play my voice. No, I'm just kidding. I play a little bit of piano and a little bit of guitar too. Mostly my voice though.

TWIST: Where do you draw your inspiration from when you're writing music?
Brandon: I think it's just from a variety of things that happen to us, and sometimes we just write about things that haven't happened. We have breakup songs and love songs and stuff like that.
Savannah: And our parents and people around us are like, "Where did this come from?"
Brandon: Yeah, it's different and it's just from inspiration: things we see, things that we pick up. We could sing about a city or about a feeling that we have.
Savannah: A place that we miss.
Brandon: It's basically just about things that touch us, and that's where it comes from.

TWIST: What was the process like when you guys were writing "All the Runaways"?
Savannah: We were writing and we were kind of missing California.
Brandon: We were in Nashville at the time.
Savannah: Yes, and so we were just thinking about walking Sunset and just missing the lights and the people. We were just missing everything.
Brandon: We were in Nashville recording some songs for the album, and we just started coming up with ideas about how we missed LA and we wanted to go back. Our parents were like, "Aww, don't you just love it out here in Nashville?" And we were like, "Yeah, but we love LA and all the mixes and the cultures and all of it." And so we just started writing how we felt, and it came out in a way how we're singing about how we all get together.
Savannah: No matter where you come from, just all get together.

TWIST: I watched your video for "All the Runaways" and it looked like it was so much fun to film. Can you tell me about what it was like to make the video?
Brandon: It was really, really fun. The fun part was that all the people that were in it were all our great friends. It was basically an actual party. Because we didn't have birthday parties that year because we were working, so it was kind of like a birthday party that was filmed. It was fun. The inspiration just kind of came from the thought of being in LA and just seeing friends and people that we love and being around them and having a great time.

TWIST: What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of being siblings in a duo?
Savannah: I think that the advantages are that we can always be together to practice or write together. We don't have to call and find a time that we can get together. The disadvantages are that we fight a little bit, but we're siblings and it's normal.
Brandon: Just disagreeing when we're writing a song. I'll be like, "Oh, let's do this line!" and Savannah will be like, "No, let's do this line." We'll just kind of battle over it.
Savannah: It's fun. I love having him as a partner.
Brandon: Yeah, it's great. We kind of read each other's thoughts and come up with the same lyrics at the same time. Weird stuff like that.
S: Sometimes I'll be up writing at 3:00 in the morning and he's doing the exact same thing.

TWIST: Why should TWIST readers check out your music?
Brandon: TWIST readers should definitely check out the music because it's new, it's fun, it's different, and I think that everyone will like it and want to dance to it.
Savannah: It's just a really fun vibe and it's awesome.
Brandon: And everyone will like it from little kids to parents. We just want everyone to listen to it and to jam out. We'd love to hear people's feedback.

TWIST: What can TWIST readers expect from you guys in the rest of 2012?
Savannah: We have lots of new songs that we wrote.
Brandon: Yeah, we're working on the new album, which will come out later this year, so that's awesome. Everyone look out for that later this year. The songs are great, all written by us, and we're going to have some different sounds in it.
Savannah: I think a lot of the listeners are going to like it. Hopefully you guys can check it out when it comes out!

TWIST: Thanks so much, guys!
Brandon and Savannah: Thanks, TWIST!
