You might recognize Gavin DeGraw's so-sweet love songs from the One Tree Hill credits -- he even made a guest appearance on the show to perform "I Don't Want to Be" -- but there's so much more to this piano playing rockstar! After topping the charts with hits like "In Love With A Girl," "We Belong Together" and "More Than Anyone," Gavin is back with a new single ("Not Over You"), a new record, out September 6th, and a new sound! We sat down with Gavin to chat about his upcoming album - and even got him to spill some love advice for all you TWIST readers! Read on for more!

TWIST: We've been listening to your new single "Not Over You" non-stop! Tell us more about your new album that drops in August!
Gavin: The album is called Sweeter and I was really motivated to take chances on this record and experiment. I even tried a bit of co-writing on this album. It really helped, being in a room with a different writer, because every now and then you hit a wall. It helped me to stay motivated. The album just has a huge spectrum of feelings. I feel like this is my best record.
TWIST: Where do you find inspiration for your songs?
Gavin: I'm one of those hypersensitive people - always paying attention to what is going on around me, what I'm feeling and what everyone else is feeling. I definitely pay attention to people around me.
TWIST: And how about for "Not Over You" - what's the inspiration behind that song? Is it about a real life experience you've had?
Gavin: I think we've all been in that position! [It's when] you can't help but still be attached to someone but at the same time, you don't want them to feel like they've won - even though you can't let go.
TWIST: How do you think is the best way to deal with those feelings?
Gavin: It's tough. You can't help who you love. Sometimes it's best to just let them know.
TWIST: Since so many of your songs are about love, we gotta know: how would you describe your ideal girl?
Gavin: She likes to laugh and to smile a lot. Someone who likes to have a good time. Life is too serious, I want to be around someone who wants to motivate me to go and enjoy myself with them!
