Twist: How does it feel to be a part of Disney's "The Next Big Thing"? Also, the Jonas Brothers were also on there before they became famous! Does that add pressure? Or is it exciting?
Josh Golden: Oh, I didn't know about that! It apparently used to be called "Incubators" but now they turned it into this NBT thing. This year is the first year they've ever put it on Disney Channel, and it's really blown up. I'm so excited to be part of it. I had the time of my life working with Disney, it's great. You'll have to vote for me! 5 stars!
Twist: What is your inspiration for your songs? Can you share a particular story?
JG: Well, of course everyone has had a heartbreak kind of moment or a love moment - the typical heartbreak, you know? I'll write about that a lot. I actually write about my brother's and sister's relationships sometimes - like step into someone else's shoes. See what's hot about the relationship. The big thing is go through my Twist magazine and find a Jonas breakup or something (laughs), I'm kidding, no. But, not everything I write about it from my own relationships.
Twist: Do you have a girlfriend right now?
JG: I'm single! So single. Me and love aren't hanging out.
Twist: Who would you like to work with?
JG: Probably Taylor Swift, that would be awesome.
Twist: Is she your celebrity crush?
JG: I guess, if I had to pick a crush, definitely. I don't know she's great! Her songwriting is brilliant and she's got the whole - her swagger! She knows how to carry herself.
Twist: Any embarrassing moments?
JG: I used to be in dance, when I was younger. I didn't even want to be in it - my mom just made me be in dance class. So we did this whole play, and I think it was "Cinderella" and I was the big prince-charming guy. There was this part where I had to dance with Cinderella, and it was the worst because I was so nervous because I really liked her. And I never really had any experience dancing with a girl and so the final night comes where we dance, and I was so nervous that my hands starting sweating. So when I would twirl her out she'd slip and stuff. So it was so embarrassing and I'd just turn red. And at the end she was like "Uh, were your hands sweating?" and I was like "No, I thought that was your hands?" Kind of played it off but that was definitely an embarrassing moment.
Twist: True Confessions! Any phobias? Weird food combinations?
JG: Well, I'm obsessed with Taco Bell. That's my place! You'll catch me eating there all the time, you know - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I go there with my friend Andrew all the time. We actually make friends there now because they see us around so much, and they'll actually give us free food sometimes! It's pretty great - it's awesome. If someday I decide to quit music, I'll open up a Taco Bell.
Twist: What is your holiday plans?
JG: I really hope to be in L.A. for Halloween, because last year I was and it was the time of my life. We went down to Tuluca Lake and did some roaming down there and it was awesome because everyone was there. I also actually met Steve Carrell and that was a blast because I look up to him - I love "The Office." So I hope to be there for Halloween. For Christmas and New Year's I'll probably be back home and do the classic family thing. We always do a board game the night before and get into our pajamas and do that whole thing. Then open all our presents in the morning like a normal family, I guess. I kind of want to dress up as...I don't know what I'm going to dress up for this year. Any advice?
Twist: Hmm...Edward?
JG: Oh lord, there's going to be so many Edwards! I was thinking an Eskimo or Miley Cyrus...Hannah Montana, I mean. I don't know. Last year we were the plain white tees, me and a couple - 3 other guys. We just had plain white t-shirts and had a stereo that was blasting "Delilah." Good times.
